PLANT MANAGER - COMMACK

Overview:

Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) is a leading manufacturing platform providing mission critical components to the aerospace, defense, and medical markets. AMG is a multi-site manufacturing organization with facilities currently in Danbury, CT; Bethel, CT, and Commack (Long Island), NY. AMG has expertise in precision metal forming capabilities such as electroforming, deep drawing, CNC machining and other manufacturing processes serving OEM, Tier 1 and Tier 2/3 customers.

Job Summary:

The Plant Manager is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of the deep draw metal manufacturing facility, which operates on a one-shift schedule with approximately 50 employees. The Plant Manager will drive continuous improvement in operational efficiency, safety, quality, and cost, while ensuring the facility meets production targets and customer requirements. This role requires collaboration with multiple departments, including quality, maintenance, engineering, and supply chain, to implement and sustain an Operational Excellence roadmap.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Leadership and Management
  • Oversee day-to-day plant operations, ensuring production targets are met in alignment with safety, quality, and cost objectives.
  • Lead, mentor, and develop a high-performance team that drives operational excellence.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, employee engagement, and continuous improvement.
  • Manage a workforce of 50 employees, ensuring alignment with company objectives and maintaining positive employee relations.
  • Communicate production updates, KPIs, and strategic initiatives to senior leadership.
  • Operational Excellence Roadmap
  • Lead the development and sustainment of the Operational Excellence roadmap, focusing on:
  • Daily Management: Drive structured daily management processes, including performance tracking, KPI monitoring, and production issue resolution.
  • Total Predictive Maintenance (TPM): Implement and sustain a TPM system to maximize equipment uptime, focusing on NC and robotics equipment reliability.
  • 6S: Develop and maintain 6S (Sort, Set in Order, Shine, Standardize, Sustain, and Safety) standards to ensure a clean, organized, and safe workplace.
  • Lean Leadership: Embed Lean principles and practices throughout the plant, promoting continuous process improvements, waste reduction, and value stream optimization.
  • Environmental Health and Safety (EHS): Lead EHS improvement initiatives to ensure a safe and compliant work environment. Collaborate with EHS teams to meet all regulatory standards and drive proactive safety culture improvements.
  • ISO 9001 and AS9100 Compliance
  • Partner with the Quality Manager to ensure ongoing compliance with ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards.
  • Oversee internal audits, corrective actions, and ensure documentation and procedures are consistently reviewed and maintained.
  • Implement and review Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) to maintain high quality standards, reduce scrap, and eliminate rework.
  • Maintenance and Equipment Optimization
  • Ensure that the Total Predictive Maintenance program is adhered to, reducing downtime and ensuring high levels of machine availability.
  • Work with the engineering team to optimize machine setups, changeovers, and tooling to reduce cycle times and improve efficiency.
  • Budgeting and Cost Management
  • Manage the plant’s operating budget, tracking costs, identifying areas for cost savings, and implementing initiatives to drive cost-effective operations.
  • Collaborate with finance to monitor and control labor, materials, and overhead costs.
  • Continuous Improvement and Problem-Solving
  • Lead and participate in Kaizen events and other continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Use data analysis and problem-solving methodologies (e.g., root cause analysis, 5 Whys) to improve plant performance.
  • Identify and implement process improvements in the manufacturing of deep draw products to enhance product quality, reduce cycle times, and improve efficiency.

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, manufacturing, or a related field.  Certification in Lean or Six Sigma is a plus.
  • Experience:
    • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, with at least 3 years in a management or leadership role.
    • Demonstrated experience in deep draw metal manufacturing, including familiarity with NC (Numerical Control) machines and robotics.
    • Strong knowledge of ISO 9001 and AS9100 standards and auditing processes.
    • Proven experience leading Lean manufacturing initiatives and implementing operational excellence frameworks such as 6S, TPM, and EHS programs.
  • Skills:
    • Strong leadership and communication skills with the ability to motivate teams and drive results.
    • Familiarity with ERP systems and data-driven decision-making.
    • Experience in budgeting, financial analysis, and cost control.
    • Proven track record of leading Operational Excellence initiatives and delivering measurable results.

We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to support our Deep Draw Manufacturing operations at our Commack and Bethel facilities. Key Responsibilities:

  • Design & Development: Lead the design and development of tooling and mechanical systems for deep draw manufacturing processes, ensuring that all designs meet required specifications, functionality, and quality standards.
  • Tooling Expertise: Collaborate with the tooling department to create innovative tooling solutions that support deep draw manufacturing operations. Ensure that tooling designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
  • Process Improvement: Analyze, develop, and implement continuous process improvements to optimize manufacturing efficiency, enhance product quality, and reduce lead times in deep draw operations.
  • Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from concept through completion, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
  • Technical Support: Provide hands-on engineering support to the production floor, troubleshooting technical issues, and working closely with operators to improve processes and machine efficiency.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs and processes adhere to AS9100 and ISO standards, as well as internal quality metrics. Collaborate with the Quality Department to implement robust quality controls.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, tooling requirements, and process instructions. Prepare reports on project status, process improvements, and technical issues.
  • New Product Introduction (NPI): Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes by providing engineering expertise to ensure successful scaling from prototype to full production.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of new tooling and designs into production lines.

 

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, and deep draw manufacturing, preferably in the aerospace, defense or medical industries.
  • Strong proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar), with a focus on tooling and mechanical design.
  • Experience with tooling design for deep draw manufacturing is highly preferred.

  • Improve Accounting Processes and Procedures
  • Work with the Controller, Cost Accountant and Operation Management to understand variance and absorption.
  • Cost Accountants primary focus is to ensure the integrity of the following:
  • The Cost of Goods Section of the Income Statement
  • The Balance Sheet Raw Materials, WIP and Finished Goods
  • Responsible to review Gross Margin Reports on a Weekly Basis
  • The Cost Accountant is responsible to provide solid cost estimates on new products to the General Managers, VP of Business Development

IT MANAGER - AMG

Job Summary:

The IT Manager at Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) will oversee the company’s technology infrastructure and lead initiatives to enhance IT systems and operations. This role involves managing network upgrades, ensuring secure and reliable IT systems, supporting ERP integration at new business sites, and overseeing the procurement and configuration of computer equipment. Key Responsibilities:

  • Network Upgrades & Maintenance:
    • Plan and implement network infrastructure upgrades to support company growth and emerging technologies.
    • Ensure the performance, reliability, and security of networks across all AMG sites.

  • Technical Support & User Assistance:

Position Summary:
The Maintenance Mechanic is responsible for ensuring the smooth operation of manufacturing equipment by developing, organizing, and executing preventive maintenance programs, as well as troubleshooting and repairing mechanical, electrical, pneumatic, and hydraulic systems. A key part of this role includes maintaining electroforming tanks and ensuring their safe and efficient operation.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Perform preventive maintenance and routine servicing on manufacturing equipment, with a focus on electroforming tanks, to minimize downtime and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Conduct regular inspections and maintenance of electroforming tanks, including monitoring tank conditions.
  • Interpret and follow equipment manuals to safely operate and properly maintain machinery.
  • Diagnose equipment issues, identify malfunctioning components, and conduct repairs to restore full functionality.
  • Ensure the building and grounds are kept in safe, operational condition through regular inspections and timely repairs.
  • Maintain accurate maintenance logs and documentation.
  • Promote and maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to company safety standards and protocols.
  • Support continuous improvement initiatives, including 6S methodologies, to enhance workplace efficiency and safety.

Required Qualifications:

  • High School Diploma or Technical School certification.

ELECTROFORMING TECHNICIAN - DANBURY

AMG Danbury is the leading provider of civil and defense rotorcraft composite blade leading edge abrasion strip electroforms. Additionally, their products also include turbine engine outer guide vane erosion sheaths as well as missile/rocket wing slot heat shield electroforms. 

AMG-Danbury is the largest and premiere AS9100 certified electroforming supplier with over 40,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space. 

SUMMARY: AMG-Danbury is actively seeking a hands-on Electroforming Technician to join our team. 

 

The Electroforming Technician will primarily set up and maintain electroforming production equipment in the shop and participate in production activities.   

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Some of typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

 

  • Set and maintain electroforming equipment according to prints and work instructions
  • Measure, mark and mask areas to be excluded from plating as indicated in work order or drawing
  • Maintain on-going communication with co-workers and supervisors regarding projects, problems incurred, etc.
  • Assist in continuous improvement efforts to improve on-time delivery, quality, productivity elimination of waste and 6S compliance

FINISHING TECHNICIAN - DANBURY

SUMMARY: AMG-Danbury is actively seeking a hands-on Metal Finishing/Grinding Technician to join our team. 

 

RESPONSIBILITIES:  Some of typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Observe & follow all safety policies and procedures in compliance with the organizational rules, while seeking continuous improvement. Responsible for his/her safety as well as that of his/her colleagues.
  • Use abrasives, sanders, air tools to grind, polish and/or finishes various sizes of primarily nickel parts to product specification.
  • Read blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
  • Supports all job functions by being cross trained in each area.
  • Familiarity with ISO and AS9100 standards and requirements.

QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS

Experience in the use of power tools such as electric or pneumatic grinders, buffing wheels, stroke sanders, and other methods of metal finishing are preferred. Able to follow quality standards on a consistent basis. Attentiveness, focus, strength, and stamina are key traits needed for this process.

Preferred Skills:

  • Ability to read work instructions. Proficient in English

QUALITY CONTROL LEAD - DANBURY

Position Summary:

Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Lead to join our Danbury, CT facility. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the daily execution of the site’s quality control operations, ensuring that all manufacturing processes meet stringent industry standards, particularly in the aerospace and defense sectors. You will lead a dedicated team of QC professionals, implement tactical plans to meet AS9100 and AS13100 certifications, and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement across the organization.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Quality Leadership: Develop and execute the strategic direction, mission, and vision of the Quality Control department in alignment with the organization’s overall goals.
  • Quality Management System (QMS): Maintain and continually improve the quality management system, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and AS13100 standards. Lead management review meetings and partner with external auditors during certification and compliance audits.
  • Program Management: Develop, enhance, and oversee existing quality assurance programs including customer satisfaction initiatives, in-process and final inspections, finished product specifications, environmental testing, visual product standards, and vendor certifications.
  • Root Cause Analysis: Utilize and promote the use of root cause analysis tools such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and other industry-standard methodologies to drive problem-solving and process improvements.
  • Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Quality Control professionals, fostering a collaborative, respectful, and continuous learning environment. Promote teamwork and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.
  • Process Improvement: Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing to analyze production processes, ensure adherence to quality standards, and recommend changes to improve overall product quality and efficiency.
  • Audit Compliance: Serve as the primary point of contact for site compliance audits, including First Article Inspections (FAI), NADCAP, and customer-specific audits. Ensure that all processes align with required industry and customer certifications.

 

  • Budget Management: Oversee the department’s budget, ensuring that quality initiatives are cost-effective while meeting operational and compliance objectives.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline) with 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
  • Strong knowledge of AS9100 and AS13100 certification processes and requirements.
  • Hands-on experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., FMEA, 5 Whys) and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Mechanical engineering background is a plus.
  • Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and inspire a culture of quality.
  • U.S. Citizenship required for compliance with technical data access.

QUALITY INSPECTORS - BETHEL

Alpha Metalcraft (AMG)-Bethel is a leading provider of precision deep-drawn parts to aerospace, defense, medical and high voltage tube markets with over 50 years of experience providing individual metal fabricated and machined parts for a broad spectrum of domestic and international customers. 

 

SUMMARY: AMG-Bethel is looking for someone with an exceptional eye for detail to join our company as a Quality Control Inspector. You will inspect products both visually and with measurement tools, such as micrometers or calipers. Your job is to ensure the products we produce are of consistently high quality and adhere to relevant specifications. As a Quality Control Inspector, you are a valuable member of our manufacturing team, ensuring the highest quality of production.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES: include but not limited to:

 

  • Perform 1st piece, in-process, and final inspection of product to prints, drawings, and job traveler instructions, using all types of inspection equipment.   Perform simple and complex set-ups and layout inspection according to written and verbal instructions.
  • Conduct and report internal audits and evaluations
  • Implement and improve quality control operating procedures
  • Communicate with customer via portal and/or email for Product Compliance / RoHS / REACH / Toxic Substance / Conflict Material / Waste Framework documentation and registration as required 
  • Identify and troubleshoot equipment problems and defects
  • Participate in routine visual inspections
  • Maintain a clean and safe work environment
  • Perform root cause analysis and corrective actions for any nonconforming material and records findings
  • Maintain and keep organized inspection records

 

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Previous work experience in quality control or other related fields 
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills 
  • Strong computer proficiency
  • Knowledge of IS0 9001:2015 / AS9100 Quality Management Systems 
  • Knowledge of operating electronic inspection equipment, such as coordinate-measuring machines (CMMs) a plus 
  • Experience in medical device, defense, or medical device manufacturing a plus
  • US citizenship is required for technical data access compliance
