Position Summary:
The Estimator at Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) is responsible for analyzing engineering drawings, specifications, and project details to calculate accurate costs for manufacturing aerospace components and assemblies. This includes estimating materials, labor, overhead, and subcontractor needs to prepare detailed cost breakdowns and proposals. The role is critical in supporting bids and contracts to ensure AMG delivers competitive and profitable solutions to clients.
Key Responsibilities:
Cost Analysis:
- Break down project costs into individual elements, including materials, labor, tooling, and subcontractor services.
- Account for factors such as material type, manufacturing complexity, and labor rates.
Interpreting Technical Drawings:
- Review engineering drawings and specifications to accurately estimate required materials and production timelines.
Supplier Sourcing:
- Identify, research, and negotiate with vendors for materials, components, and outside services.
Labor Hour Estimation:
- Calculate labor hours required for each manufacturing step, considering complexity, skill level, and production methods. Develop time studies or parametric models of similar work-scopes.
Proposal Preparation:
- Compile comprehensive cost estimates with detailed breakdowns of labor, materials, and overhead for client bid packages. Provide concise, detailed report-out to business development team and leadership fore review and evaluation.
Project Feasibility Analysis:
- Evaluate project viability by analyzing cost constraints, delivery schedules, and technical challenges.
Team Collaboration:
- Partner with engineering, manufacturing and business development teams to clarify design details and identify cost-saving opportunities.
Cost Database Maintenance:
- Update and manage internal databases with current pricing for materials, labor, and subcontractor services.
Market Trend Analysis:
- Monitor industry trends, emerging technologies, and factors affecting cost projections for future projects.
Required Qualifications:
- Strong understanding of aerospace manufacturing processes, including metal forming, machining, assembly, and finishing techniques.
- Proficiency in interpreting engineering drawings and technical specifications.
- Experience using cost-estimating software and tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Effective communication and negotiation skills for internal team and vendor collaboration.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, particularly Excel.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience in manufacturing environment and in similar role.
Preferred Qualifications:
- Associates or bachelor’s degree in manufacturing, Mechanical, Industrial Engineering, or a related field, a plus.
- Experience in aerospace or defense manufacturing environments.
- Familiarity with AS9100 standards and ITAR compliance requirements.
- Familiarity with Epicor (ERP) a plus
Work Environment:
- This position operates in both office and production environments. Occasional travel to vendor locations and other AMG manufacturing sites may be required.

CONTRACTS ADMINISTRATION MANAGER

Position Summary:
As the Contracts Administration Manager, you will be instrumental in driving AMG’s sales process, ensuring an exceptional customer experience, and expanding our sales portfolio. This role is focused on building and maintaining key relationships, managing the contract review process, and communicating AMG’s value proposition and capabilities to customers and partners worldwide. The position is based at one of our three sites, with the potential for a hybrid setup.
Key Responsibilities:
- Sales Operations Oversight: Manage sales operations across all AMG sites to ensure consistent, effective processes.
- Contract Review and Compliance: Lead the contract review process to verify compliance with customer POs, specifications, and legal requirements, ensuring all necessary documentation is in place.
- Bid Process Management: Own and drive the bid process for legacy and assist with new item RFQs, collaborating with Cost Accounting, Cost Estimators, Siter Leaders and Business Development on pricing strategies. Provide insight into pricing adjustments for legacy items.
- Customer Relationship Management: Act as the Customer Service Administrator for the Danbury site and oversee customer service across other sites, ensuring accurate and prompt responses to RFQs, order entry and open PO status requests.
- Annual Sales Planning: Develop and coordinate the annual sales plan with Customer Service Administrators, creating a roadmap down to the part number level.
- Customer Engagement: Coordinating with Site Leaders and Business Development, plan and lead on-site customer visits and manage AMG’s new business pipeline, fostering long-term customer partnerships.
Desired Experience and Skills:
- Experience: Minimum of 5 years in contracts administration, customer service, or sales within aerospace and defense manufacturing; experience with metal forming processes is preferred.
- Educational Background: AS or BS in Engineering, Business Administration, or related fields, with 2+ years in technical program management or manufacturing sales, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Skills and Competencies:
- Strong communication and relationship-building skills, with a customer-centric approach
- Highly organized with attention to detail and critical-thinking skills
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet strict deadlines
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite; Epicor ERP and CRM experience a plus
- Knowledge of quoting processes, pricing strategies, and setting gross profit targets; FAR certification for cost or pricing requirements is a plus

MECHANICAL ENGINEER - BETHEL & DANBURY

Position Summary:
We are seeking a highly skilled Mechanical Engineer to support our Deep Draw Manufacturing operations at our Commack and Bethel facilities. The ideal candidate will have expertise in mechanical design and tooling, with a strong background in process optimization, precision engineering, and continuous improvement initiatives. This role will involve working closely with cross-functional teams, including manufacturing, quality, and product development, to design, develop, and implement engineering solutions that meet the stringent demands of aerospace and defense customers.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design & Development: Lead the design and development of tooling and mechanical systems for deep draw manufacturing processes, ensuring that all designs meet required specifications, functionality, and quality standards.
- Tooling Expertise: Collaborate with the tooling department to create innovative tooling solutions that support deep draw manufacturing operations. Ensure that tooling designs are optimized for manufacturability and cost-efficiency.
- Process Improvement: Analyze, develop, and implement continuous process improvements to optimize manufacturing efficiency, enhance product quality, and reduce lead times in deep draw operations.
- Project Management: Oversee engineering projects from concept through completion, including timelines, resource allocation, and budget management. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to ensure successful project execution.
- Technical Support: Provide hands-on engineering support to the production floor, troubleshooting technical issues, and working closely with operators to improve processes and machine efficiency.
- Quality Assurance: Ensure that all designs and processes adhere to AS9100 and ISO standards, as well as internal quality metrics. Collaborate with the Quality Department to implement robust quality controls.
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain detailed engineering documentation, including design specifications, tooling requirements, and process instructions. Prepare reports on project status, process improvements, and technical issues.
- New Product Introduction (NPI): Participate in New Product Introduction (NPI) processes by providing engineering expertise to ensure successful scaling from prototype to full production.
- Collaboration: Work closely with production, quality, and supply chain teams to ensure seamless integration of new tooling and designs into production lines.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering or a related field.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in mechanical design, tooling, and deep draw manufacturing, preferably in the aerospace, defense or medical industries.
- Strong proficiency with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or similar), with a focus on tooling and mechanical design.
- Experience with tooling design for deep draw manufacturing is highly preferred.
- Knowledge of Lean Manufacturing, 6S, and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Familiarity with AS9100 and ISO quality standards.

As a Cost Accountant at Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG), you will play a pivotal role in ensuring the financial integrity and operational efficiency of our organization. Key Responsibilities:
- Improve Accounting Processes and Procedures
- Work with the Controller, Cost Accountant and Operation Management to understand variance and absorption.
- Cost Accountants primary focus is to ensure the integrity of the following:
- The Cost of Goods Section of the Income Statement
- The Balance Sheet Raw Materials, WIP and Finished Goods
- Responsible to review Gross Margin Reports on a Weekly Basis
- The Cost Accountant is responsible to provide solid cost estimates on new products to the General Managers, VP of Business Development
- Conduct detailed analysis of production costs and overhead expenses
- Prepare comprehensive cost reports and variance analyses
- Collaborate with procurement and production teams to optimize inventory management and material usage
- Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance operational efficiency and cost-effectiveness
- Cost Accountants are responsible for maintaining the Cycle Count Process
- Cost Accountants are responsible for providing monthly Key Performance Indicators.
- Improve the utilization of the EPICOR financial system.

Qualifications:

- CMA, CPA preferred.

ELECTROFORMING TECHNICIAN - DANBURY
AMG Danbury is the leading provider of civil and defense rotorcraft composite blade leading edge abrasion strip electroforms. Additionally, their products also include turbine engine outer guide vane erosion sheaths as well as missile/rocket wing slot heat shield electroforms.
AMG-Danbury is the largest and premiere AS9100 certified electroforming supplier with over 40,000 sq. ft. of manufacturing space.
SUMMARY: AMG-Danbury is actively seeking a hands-on Electroforming Technician to join our team.
The Electroforming Technician will primarily set up and maintain electroforming production equipment in the shop and participate in production activities.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Some of typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Set and maintain electroforming equipment according to prints and work instructions
- Measure, mark and mask areas to be excluded from plating as indicated in work order or drawing
- Maintain on-going communication with co-workers and supervisors regarding projects, problems incurred, etc.
- Assist in continuous improvement efforts to improve on-time delivery, quality, productivity elimination of waste and 6S compliance
- Comply with all Corporate, Federal, State and Local, Quality, Environmental Health & Safety policies, regulations and standards
- Maintain baths components
- Perform quality work within deadlines
- Ability to identify non-conformity

FINISHING TECHNICIAN - DANBURY

SUMMARY: AMG-Danbury is actively seeking a hands-on Metal Finishing/Grinding Technician to join our team.
RESPONSIBILITIES: Some of typical duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
- Observe & follow all safety policies and procedures in compliance with the organizational rules, while seeking continuous improvement. Responsible for his/her safety as well as that of his/her colleagues.
- Use abrasives, sanders, air tools to grind, polish and/or finishes various sizes of primarily nickel parts to product specification.
- Read blueprints, work orders, or machining instructions to determine product specifications, tool requirements, and operational sequences.
- Supports all job functions by being cross trained in each area.
- Familiarity with ISO and AS9100 standards and requirements.
QUALIFICATIONS AND REQUIREMENTS
Experience in the use of power tools such as electric or pneumatic grinders, buffing wheels, stroke sanders, and other methods of metal finishing are preferred. Able to follow quality standards on a consistent basis. Attentiveness, focus, strength, and stamina are key traits needed for this process.
Preferred Skills:
- Ability to read work instructions. Proficient in English
- Ability to use measuring equipment such as verniers, calipers, dial indicator and micrometers
- A strong work ethic and ability to work independently
- Strong communication skills

QUALITY CONTROL LEAD - DANBURY

Position Summary:
Alpha Metalcraft Group (AMG) is seeking a hands-on Quality Control Lead to join our Danbury, CT facility. In this key leadership role, you will oversee the daily execution of the site’s quality control operations, ensuring that all manufacturing processes meet stringent industry standards, particularly in the aerospace and defense sectors. You will lead a dedicated team of QC professionals, implement tactical plans to meet AS9100 and AS13100 certifications, and foster a culture of continuous quality improvement across the organization.
Key Responsibilities:
- Quality Leadership: Develop and execute the strategic direction, mission, and vision of the Quality Control department in alignment with the organization’s overall goals.
- Quality Management System (QMS): Maintain and continually improve the quality management system, ensuring compliance with AS9100 and AS13100 standards. Lead management review meetings and partner with external auditors during certification and compliance audits.
- Program Management: Develop, enhance, and oversee existing quality assurance programs including customer satisfaction initiatives, in-process and final inspections, finished product specifications, environmental testing, visual product standards, and vendor certifications.
- Root Cause Analysis: Utilize and promote the use of root cause analysis tools such as FMEA, 5 Whys, and other industry-standard methodologies to drive problem-solving and process improvements.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a team of Quality Control professionals, fostering a collaborative, respectful, and continuous learning environment. Promote teamwork and cross-functional collaboration with engineering and manufacturing teams.
- Process Improvement: Coordinate with Engineering and Manufacturing to analyze production processes, ensure adherence to quality standards, and recommend changes to improve overall product quality and efficiency.
- Audit Compliance: Serve as the primary point of contact for site compliance audits, including First Article Inspections (FAI), NADCAP, and customer-specific audits. Ensure that all processes align with required industry and customer certifications.
- Budget Management: Oversee the department’s budget, ensuring that quality initiatives are cost-effective while meeting operational and compliance objectives.
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (Engineering, Quality Management, or related discipline) with 2-5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in aerospace or defense industries.
- Strong knowledge of AS9100 and AS13100 certification processes and requirements.
- Hands-on experience with root cause analysis tools (e.g., FMEA, 5 Whys) and continuous improvement methodologies.
- Mechanical engineering background is a plus.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively across departments and inspire a culture of quality.
- U.S. Citizenship required for compliance with technical data access.
