When BAE Systems honored Alpha Metalcraft Group with a Gold Tier Award in its Partner 2 Win program, the recognition was more than a perfunctory acknowledgement of a trustworthy teammate.
BAE Systems, an international defense, aerospace and security company, delivers a full range of products and services for air, land and naval forces. In the next few years, contractors in the aerospace and defense industry face a daunting task, and product suppliers such as AMG will be relied upon to help meet their escalating production goals.
Operation Epic Fury played a large part in the Pentagon’s recent budget request for a 188 percent increase in missile procurement. According to Navy Times, the U.S. Navy alone is requesting $3 billion to replenish its stockpile of Tomahawk missiles that have been depleted during the course of the war. The request was part of a $1.5 trillion budget submitted by the Navy, which asked for a 1,200 percent increase in the number of long-range attack missiles.
AMG manufactures important components for missiles, including cold, heat and wing slot shields, nose and tail cones, missile skins and housings and warhead domes.
Heat shields are one of the critical components on every missile. They protect sensitive guidance systems from extreme heat and friction generated when traveling through the atmosphere and prevent the missile from melting, cracking or breaking up. They also ensure precise guidance to the target.
Heat shields also have a complex geometry and are manufactured by electroforming, one of AMG’s core processes. Electroforming builds up parts atom by atom, which ensures accuracy and allows for uniform or variable wall thickness. Copper, nickel and nickel/cobalt are used to manufacture parts via electroforming.
Missile production is expected to ramp up quickly. In March, the Pentagon announced framework agreements with BAE Systems, Lockheed Martin and Honeywell Aerospace to rapidly accelerate production of a wide array of missile components. Defense News reported BAE Systems and Lockheed Martin will ramp up output of the Terminal High Altitude Area Defense interceptor (THADD), and that annual THADD production rates will quadruple.
The Gold Tier Award from BAE Systems recognizes AMG’s exceptional performance and contributions to the BAE Systems Electronic Systems sector supply in 2025.
BAE Systems’ Partner 2 Win program drives operational excellence and eliminates inefficiencies in its supply chain by raising the bar of performance expectations to meet the demands of current and future customers. As part of the program, BAE Systems meets regularly with its suppliers to transfer best practices and ensure the components and materials that compose its products meet the highest quality standards.
“Receiving the BAE Systems Partner 2 Win Gold Tier Award is a tremendous honor for Alpha Metalcraft Group,” said Alec Searle, CEO of AMG. “This award highlights AMG’s commitment to quality and on‑time delivery in our partnership with BAE Systems. To earn Gold status, on-time delivery must be 100 percent and Quality DPPM no greater than 233 over a minimum six‑month period.”
AMG manufactures metal components and assemblies via electroforming, deep drawing and spinning, and helps customers navigate their most difficult manufacturing challenges and knows how to meet stringent aerospace and defense requirements.
